CORRELATE - Compare patterns of relative crop conditions on the map versus field history and what you see on the ground. Draw boundaries around zones of similar crop conditions.
CALIBRATE - Quantify the estimated yield differences between the good, fair, poor zones in the field.
CALCULATE - determine economic cost/benefit by calculating yield differences by zone x acres x price, less cost to fix.

FIELD HISTORY

The entire field was furrow irrigated corn for 2009. Straight urea (100# N) was spring applied on the NW side of the field. Agrotain coated urea (100# N with denitrification inhibitor) was spring applied at the same time.

NUMBERED COMMENTS

1. Ponded area (1.7 acres) severely damaged the corn crop here due to extensive denitrification losses. Quantify impact with yield estimate x acres x price.

2. Weak crop area. Cause unknown.

3. East/west streaks in crop pattern. Cause unknown.

4. Agrotain treated area (20.0 acres) did not experience denitrification to the extent as the non-treated area. Net economic value is yield difference x acres x price, less additional cost of Agrotain. Use the image to aid in quantifying economic benefit.
