CORRELATE - Compare patterns of relative crop conditions on the map versus field history and what you see on the ground. Draw boundaries around zones of similar crop conditions.
CALIBRATE - Quantify the estimated yield differences between the good, fair, poor zones in the field.
CALCULATE - determine economic cost/benefit by calculating yield differences by zone x acres x price, less cost to fix.

FIELD HISTORY

The entire field was irrigated corn in 2008. The cornstalks on the south half were treated with HydraHume to break them down prior to the 2009 growing season, and the north half was not treated.
The entire field was soybeans in 2009.
Field corners are furrow irrigated.

NUMBERED COMMENTS

1. East/west Streaks in crop performance throughout the field. Wheel tracks from implement 98 feet wide.

2. Zone of 10.2 acres of soybeans. Agronomic differences unknown. Quantify economic impact by making in-field yield estimates x acres x price.

3. East/west Streaks in crop performance throughout the field. Wheel tracks from implement 98 feet wide.

4. Poorer crop performance zone in addition to non-HydraHume. Other factors may be adversely affecting the 31.7 acres of soybeans in this zone. Compare in-field yield/acre difference with the other zones to accurately quantify the economic impact.
